Happy New Years! This year, I was blessed with many positive and amazing changes. I got married to my girlfriend of 10 years at the San Diego Botanic Garden and enjoyed a fantastic honeymoon in the French Polynesian Islands of Moorea and Bora Bora.

We were also lucky enough to travel to New York City, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Sedona and San Francisco. My sister in law gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and I also started a new career at Northrop Grumman as a Logistics Engineer. I’m very fortunate that Northrop Grumman’s work culture is similar to my old job at HP. They both have flexible work hours and both my manager’s support my real estate career. With all the wonderful changes in my life, I decided I’d like to renew the DRL Realty website and start blogging more frequently about real estate and my personal life.
In this first blog I’d like to tell you guys how I came up with the name of my blog, “I am Home.” My wife has always liked this short saying by Thich Nhat Hanh, “I have arrived. I am home.” To me, it means to be mindful of the present moment and find happiness in it. I’m the type that constantly thinks about the future. Being mindful of the current moment has always been difficult for me, that is until this year arrived. This year I was going to marry the love of my life. When that moment occurred, I felt like I was finally home. I didn’t have to chase happiness anymore. My happiness was here and now with my wife and Toby. “I am Home” to me is both a reminder to be mindful of the present and the happiness I felt on our wedding day.
I hope everyone enjoys the New Year! I’m excited to see what this year will bring!
